FairApps iPhone apps

Roomlines

Furnish your home before you buy or carry furniture: upload a floor plan, set the scale, drag furniture in true to scale and compare layouts.

Free, no subscription, no ads and no account. Your plans stay on your device. For iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later, in English and German. In German-speaking countries the app is called “Raumplan”. Until October 2026 the app was called “Möbelplan”.

What the app does

All dimensions are in centimetres and square metres.

Quick guide

1. Upload a floor plan

On the home screen, tap “+” at the top right. Choose “Photo or screenshot of a plan” or “PDF or image from Files”. For a PDF the app uses the first page. A straight plan works best, such as a screenshot or a PDF. Plans photographed at an angle are distorted.

No floor plan: under “Without floor plan”, enter width and depth in metres and tap “Create blank plan”. Then draw rooms and doors yourself (step 4).

2. Set the scale

So that furniture has the right size, the app needs the scale of your plan. The quickest way is “Detect automatically”: the app reads room names and areas (for example “17.28 m²”) on your plan, finds the rooms and suggests the scale; it can draw the detected rooms right away. This runs only on your device. Check the suggestion briefly. There are two manual ways:

Zoom in with two fingers to place the points precisely. The app shows how large the whole plan becomes. If that roughly fits, tap “Apply”. The longer the known distance, the more precise the scale. You can change it later in the plan at the top right under “…” → “Set scale again”.

3. Place furniture

Tap “Furniture” at the bottom and pick an item from the catalog; you can search at the top. Drag to move it, the round handle at the corner changes its size. When you tap an item, you see width, depth and height in cm at the bottom to type in, plus Rotate, Copy, Shopping and Remove. Zoom with two fingers, move the view with one finger on an empty area. Undo and redo are at the top right.

4. Draw rooms, doors, stairs and dimensions

Tap “Plan” at the bottom and then “Plan element”. Rooms, doors, stairs, steps and dimension lines lie on top of your floor plan. Only with them can the app tell whether furniture stands in a wall, blocks a door or stands on stairs or a step. Drag a dimension line into place and to the length you want, like a piece of furniture; it stays fixed in the plan. Tap “Done” to get back to the furniture.

5. Levels

If your apartment or house has several floors, tap the level at the top left (for example “Level 1”) and then “New level”. Each level has its own floor plan (“Upload floor plan”) and its own furniture. Drafts always include all levels.

6. Lock

Tap an item and then the lock next to its name. Locked items can no longer be moved, rotated or deleted until you open the lock again. Handy for a kitchen unit or a built-in wardrobe.

7. Drafts

Under “Drafts”, enter a name and tap “Save”. This way you have several layouts of the same apartment, for example with and without a desk, and can switch between them at any time. The top of the plan shows which draft is open and whether you have changed something since.

8. Issues

If something does not fit, an orange label appears at the top, for example “2 issues”. Tap it to see which furniture overlaps, stands in a wall, lies outside the apartment, blocks a door or stands on stairs or a step (for example “Dresser stands on the Stairs”). You draw stairs and steps in step 4. A rug under furniture and chairs at a table do not count as a problem.

9. Shopping list and “My furniture”

Tap an item and then “Shopping”: status (Buy, Bought, Owned), price, shop and link. Tap “Shopping” at the bottom to see the whole list with totals, identical items grouped; share it as text at the top left. With “Save as my furniture” an item is added to “My furniture” in the catalog. From Safari or a shop app: on a product page tap “Share → Roomlines”. Name, price and dimensions are suggested, you check them and tap “Add”. You then find the item in every apartment under “Furniture” → “My furniture”.

10. Share: image, PDF, file

In the plan, tap the share icon at the top right (or “…” → “Share: image, PDF, file”). There are three ways:

Frequently asked questions

Does Roomlines cost anything?

No. The app is free, with no subscription and no ads, and you do not need an account.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your device, in the app’s storage. Roomlines does not store your plans on a server and does not send any data about you to the internet. The developer has no access to your plans. If iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer is turned on, the app’s data is included, as with other apps. More in the privacy policy.

Do I need the internet?

The app itself does not: planning, checking, detecting and saving also work offline. With an internet connection the catalog checks this website at most once a day for a new version of its list. If you share a product page from a shop app with “Share → Roomlines”, Roomlines loads this one page from the internet (not from Safari, where it is already loaded). If you share something or send an email, the app you use for that may need a connection.

Do my plans move to a new device?

Roomlines has no sync of its own. If you set up a new device from the backup of your old one, the app’s data is normally included. iPhone and iPad each have their own plans.

How do I delete an apartment?

On the home screen, tap “…” on the apartment or press and hold it, then choose “Delete”. Right afterwards you can undo it for a few seconds. After that it stays in an internal trash of the app on your device for 7 days and is then deleted for good.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app: press and hold its icon, choose “Remove App” and then “Delete App”. This removes all apartments, floor plans, drafts and settings from your device. Anything already in a backup stays there until the backup is overwritten or deleted.

How precise are the dimensions?

As precise as your plan and your scale. Distances and issues are a planning aid. Before buying large furniture, better measure again on site.

I have an idea or found a bug

Great! On the home screen, tap “Feedback & ideas”, choose Idea, Bug or Praise and write your message. The app then opens a prepared email to kontakt@fairapps.at (older versions to fairapps@gmx.at, which still works), with the app version, iOS version and device type at the bottom. If no mail app is set up on your device, you can copy the address and the text. You see the email and send it yourself. You can also write directly to the address below.
